Our history

Our journey so far

The Albert Group began as Albert, a Swedish company with a mission to democratise learning. Supporting teachers and families in helping every child reach their full potential through engaging and personalised learning remains our mission. Here is the story of how we grew from a maths company to a strong group of six established EdTech brands.

2016

The company started

The Albert Group started with a maths app called Albert and a vision to democratise learning. Founded in Sweden, the company entered the Swedish school market with a school-focused business model after involving hundreds of teachers and tens of thousands of students in the development phase.

2019

International Expansion

After a period of strong growth and a market-leading position in Sweden, now with a focus on helping parents, Albert began to expand into new markets. The first step was to enter the Nordics, and just a few months later Albert expanded into Europe. The model proved to work and scale well outside Sweden.

2021

The Albert Group is born

In 2021, the Swedish B2C company Jaramba is acquired and the Albert Group is born. The purpose of this acquisition was to broaden the product portfolio aimed at the younger segment, as a good complement to the existing products, and to build on the mission to give every child in Europe a personalised learning experience.

2021

We are adding languages

The Albert Group continued to expand and during this period we added languages as a subject to our portfolio.

2022

Acquires Sumdog, Strawbees, Holy Owly and Film & Skola

The acquisition of Sumdog, Strawbees, Film & Skola and Holy Owly further broadens the group's offering. Through these acquisitions, the Albert Group now has a broad portfolio of six brands, targeting both parents and teachers, with three strong key markets: Nordics, UK and US. Albert Group is now one of the leading EdTech groups in Europe.

2023

Appoints new group management

During 2023, the Board appoints Jonas Mårtensson as CEO to lead the Group in both consolidating and expanding its international position, while ensuring a profitable growth strategy in the company's next phase. The Group continues its journey with the mission to help every child reach their full potential through engaging and personalised learning.
